ZF boxes

We are designing a high speed 28ft boat,we are trying to decide on what box to go with. We are going to use Trimax drive but are not sure if the is any disadvantage of using v transmission to a straight drive transmission form ZF. The v box would help with the general arrangement of the boat, is the any power lose or other issues when using this set up

I suspect that the "V" gear boxes are more costly, but otherwise there should be little difference in performance.
