Surface drive questions...the search for answers

I'm after some info on surface drive prop torque.
after a quick search nothing came up.

Is it the same or more then a sterndrive/outboard/shaft?

i found since i changed from shaft to surface piercing there seems to be a lot more torque for towing and things but only at slow speeds
