Volvo Penta drive help!

Hi everyone...this is my 1st post here. I just bought a 1988 24' Marathon cruiser. I beleive it has the Volvo Penta 280 or 290 stern drive. I noticed yesterday, that the oil is taking on water. Also, I found some very fine metal shavings in the oil. The drive seems to work fine, but I'm sure there is a problem here. Does anyone have advice? Shoul I buy a rebuilt drive? Where is this leak coming from? I know I need a new bellows on upper unit (this is where the grey oil is coming from). Thanks!
