OMC Transom shield Removal

Hi Guys, I am in the middle of removing the sterndrive from my boat. But came across a bit of trouble, the transom assem. seems a bit stubburn.
I have everything off on the inside, all thats left are six studs running through
transom, But there are no nuts on drive side.
The next step is to brake down the shield which seems unnecessary.

theses bolts your looking for are all on the inside for a total of eight
two above the steering arm
two just below
one on each side of the drive shaft
and two at the very bottom

Not to worry. These studs just hammered out and with them came the transom shield, Great news.

I should have mentioned that this a 86' omc cobra 8 cyl

But thanks anyway
