| mercruiser 170 224 no spark help just tuned the 1985 mercruiser 170. new plugs point roter condenser and coil. i get no spark at the plugs. power to the coil conected is only 5 volts and if i remove the pos side and test i get about 7 volts. can anybody help...thanks |

| questions not an answer but is it not spark at all or just when cranking not to many answers will fix your problem but all to many will lead you down the path of going bald with key on you should be able to see a spark if you open and close the pionts points are to be about .017 to be ajusted right add a jumper between 12v pos and coil pos crank engine if you have spark remove jumper adjust dwell and consider an ignion upgrade to transister most repair shop (mercruiser) have a drop in it makes life ez |

| thanks..point were not gaped. now it tries to start but will not kick over. did order an electronic conversion. |
