limiter switch problem

i'm having problems adjusting my reverse limiter switch it seems that i get it adjusted for foward an neutral and it not right for reverse an it wants to stall going into reverse then i adjust it for reverse and neutral or foward is not right this is on a 1986 wellcraft with and omc cobra outdrive please help with any info and possible diagrams
