Engine stall on slight acceleration My '83 Volvo-penta 4cyl engine stalls on light acceration. It starts fine and shifts fine. But once it is in gear there seems to be a point in the acceleration where it wants to kill. If I slam the throttle down hard it goes fine. Once I am at WOT, de-acceration is fine. It only acts up on initial acceleration throttle. I've checked spark, and had the carbs cleaned. What else might it be?

sounds like a flat spot carb warm engine adjust idle mix screw til max idle rpm is reached, that is screw in or out til motor eeaches max rpm then adjust throttle arm til you have reqd idle revs then try accelerate check static ign timing

Check everything to do with the accellerator pump on your carburetor. What you describe is what happens when one isn't working properly. Check for slack in the linkage, a dirty checkvalve between pump and nozzle, and wet spots on the pump gasket. (leaks) It's probably very simple. You're just not getting that little squirt at the start of breaking vacuum when you open the throttle, but you get a big squirt if you hammer the throttle. Be sure to let us know how right or wrong we were when you figure it out. Lance.
