direct relacement for Ford 302?

Greetings,

I recently acquired a 1992 17 foot Chris Craft sterndrive. The powerplant is a 30 year old Ford 302 (the "888" mercruiser). My question is: Are they any direct new replacement powerplants i can "drop in" to replace the 888. As a matter of practicality i would like to use the existing transom if possible.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

You can get a new or remanufactured 302.
