| Rudders are supposed to push the boat and not water sideways.

| My friends & fellow racers feel & see the increased control of the boats in unstable & sudden changing racing conditions. Their thanks & smiles are all the proof I need to continue trying to keep them safer as they bring pleasure to the viewing spectators. A trueism exists in safety. Bigger is usually better. Bigger turn fin. Bigger Rudder. Bigger whip struts. Bigger etc. |

| That's what she said, I'm sure. However, if we are talking about appendages in boats, the smallest that will do the job will have the less drag, hence will be better.

| wow, this stoped suddenly. anyways I have a ?. a 17' dory with a 5'7" beam running a 15hp outboard, lets take the willapa 17. what kind of keel would you put on it to keep it from sliding on ya? I don't think the boat could go that fast but without one would it still slide but maybe not trip? I like what tunnel showed, the 2 outboard keels at 45*. would that work or what? ok, now I just lost myself. I hope I didn't lose you guys. thanks for any info. Outlaw |
