I've not been there, but this interesting image was posted lately by a respected member of these forums. Now, without looking for it through all threads...what is this and where is it?

    Clue: southern hemisphere.

    Cheers.

Jeees Guillermo, you make it hard - double exposure and not your usual standard of hi-resolution photography

Yank navy giving the crew some waves to practice their surfing (boardriding) skills by powering up the submarine fleet just below the surface... (couldn't be anyone else, no incentive or not enough ships let alone subs)...

I'll go with whales... I blew the image up and had a squiz. Mebe Hump Backs and the thing in the background is prolly "The Steve Irwin" or a Japanese factory ship :D (bad humor at the end there).

OK so I blew it up to 500% and still nothing conclusive... I cannot agree with the "whales" idea as there is the issue of "lines of prop bubbles" from a continuous power source not a swishing tail & I doubt a pod of whales would swim so widely dispersed in a straight course and line abeam...?

Come on Guillermo, better picture quality and a date please??? - - the image resolution is only 540 x 540 pixels, full screen potential is 1920 x 1200 and I can zoom to any size 1 to 1 pixel or bigger.... Please?

They prolly don't leave much of a wake either, but I figured it will not be obvious.... no fun in that.

    Guillermo,

This was the photo which, in its entirety, seemed to show a huge attacking shark viewed head on in the background/depths.

Could this be patterns made by retreating surf along the Skeleton Coast, in Namibia (SW part of Africa, north of the western portion of SA)?

Theres another thread going on discusing the efficency of whales fins. I doubt if a whale would make a wake like a tug boat at 14KTS.

Is it the Japanese navy sailing into Pearl Harbour again?

    Cold, cold, cold! :)

Unluckily I have not a better resolution picture, but I'll give you two important clues:

    - The points creating the wave trains are not whales (nor other animals), nor ships; and the fluid is not water....;)

    - The place is named after a british Earl (1718-1792) whose earlship gives name to the whole of it.

    Cheers.
