Who are the best water taxi manufacturers in the world?

Hi there:

Doing some research for a feasibility study for our city.. need to get some info on:
costs and maintenance of water taxis?
Who are the main manufacturers of these craft?
can u recommend any specific one over others etc.?
advantages/disadvantages of certain models?

if anyone can atleast point me in the right direction, i'd really appreciate it!

Before you get too interested in all the Taxis in the world, remember. USCG does not accept any foreign boats legaly to be used in public transportation. Unless they pass a very expensive acceptance test. You will face a problem also. Check with your ruling marine laws and insurance availability first.

Protectionism will always exist. My take is: make the same boat in every country and sell it at the same price in any other country. Never happen.

What are your specs. for a water taxi ? # of people or vendors on board ? Special req. ? No noise, smells, Green Power? Duration of cruise and max. speed. What? ---------------- Contact most major sea coast cities that have a marine museum. They have done it all already. Ask for their help. You are not taking their buisness.

Go to the SNAME panel O-36 website and look at the July 2002 workshop on ferries.

Try Willard Marine in California. They produce a 40ft water taxi.

The black and yellow Taxi boats are being used in Rotterdam. Although they had a load of problems with the engines, the boats themself are OK. They changed the engines (to Volvo I believe...) some time ago, and now the complete package is working.
