Weight Control Lead Engineer - Houston, TX

In addition, SBM Atlantia provides engineering and technology for all types of mobile offshore units, jack-ups, and semi-submersibles.

SBM Atlantia is currently recruiting for a Weight Control Lead Engineer. The Weight Control Lead Engineer will be a Discipline Lead reporting to the Weight Control Department Manager. The primary responsibility is to assure technical quality and timeliness of weight control products for SBMA projects. In this role the lead will work with project management for multiple projects with detailed assistance from others. The position requires the ability to resolve problems and conflicts, provide guidance to other weight engineers and to collaborate on solutions with other discipline leads. Performance will be measured based on project success as well as the product quality.

Typical project products include Weight Control Plans, Procedures, Budgets and Reports. It is expected that the candidate can use all these products to control the weight of SBMA’s products to meet the customer’s expectations. The candidate may need to develop some of these documents on small projects, but will be guide others on larger projects.

The Weight Control Lead Engineer must be comfortable identifying weight threats and making recommendations and presentations to project managers. The candidate should be able to create tailored weight control solutions for each project as circumstances or project preferences change.
REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Naval Architecture, Marine, Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Systems), or appropriate experience in one of these fields, with preference given to candidates having an advanced degree.

Candidates should also have at least 7 years of related weight control experience with preference given to candidates with discipline or group lead experience in a marine industry. They should be familiar enough with the applicable SAWE, ISO, USCG, ABS, oil company and API standards to tailor solutions to meet project requirements.

Candidates must have proficiency with a combination of AUTOCAD, MS Office, PDMS, VISIO, and 3D modeling software like PDMS. A proven understanding of the engineering requirements of structure, piping, electrical and machinery of a marine system or one of SBMA projects is required.

This position may require overseas travel on a limited project specific instance basis.
