| Unauthorised use of Name - False affirmation Dear all, I was contacted a few weeks ago by the Chinese company, UD Yachts, who were looking for a NA. I ask them for more information about the job and then never got any answer. They posted a thread on this site : NEED NA and Yacht Designer While waiting for their email, I noticed they changed their website, quoting my name as if I was part of the company when I'm not: http://www.uidyacht.com/abouthistory.htm I send them already two emails demanding them to remove my name but I never got any answer. Do you have any advice ? What should I do ? Thank you M. |

| They will probably change that detail, too. Just like they have promptly changed their fraudolent claims which I have pointed to in the thread NEED NA and Yacht Designer . The mask they are wearing keeps changing but evidently their true nature doesn't. They had used pictures from Sea-Tec's MYDA Design Competition page, stealing the innovative yacht concepts from young (and defenseless) designers from around the world and tagging them as it was thier own work, hoping that nobody would notice. Maybe in China or in far Asia people don't know what SeaTec Design Award is, but here in Italy we do. And now people at Boatdesign.net do know too. This site is a very bad place for frauds to show off, too many vigilant eyes and well-informed people are attending this forum. Be perseverant in your fight, Maxime. These things make me go mad as hell. ![]() |

| Protect yourself, several here have had gallery postings hijacked and posted on these Chinese web sites, with claims they've designed and built boats "like this one . . ." Nothing about their current ethics or business practices suggests this will change any time soon. This is a full spectrum problem from intentionally mis-marked plywood, through lead tainted products and theft of design and artwork. |

| This is not the point; some of our design renderings were 'borrowed' by companies in South Africa, US and Europe. Respect of intellectual property does not depend on nationality. |

| True Alik, but it does seem that the Pacific rim countries and particularly China have dominated this particular aspect of business practice in recent years. |

![]() I should point out that in both cases, the "end user" was in central Africa! The www is a great thing, but like most good things, it is a double edged sword. |

Joke, I understand, but pls believe me there are decent builders in China who are investing in their own designs and products. One should not paint whole Asia in black. I this particular case I would suggest TS to send them official letter (maybe from his lawyer), stating that a copy was sent to autorities in China (the body responsible for immigration and foreigner employment). It will help. |

| I'll paint them black. The point is that in the West, these things can and do happen, too. In China, there is just very little that can be done about it and there are many developing, not established, companies. To compare Spain or the US or wherever with China in this vein is ludicrous. |

| Hi Guys....I could keep you reading for an hour about what I have just been thru in China.I was engaged by a company to ostensibly oversee Qc and techinical issues on projects which were moth balled a year or so ago. After a debacle in trying to get paper work sorted out (never was really) I got to the company in SW Shanghai and found a total mess,no managment, real bad work practices, dangerous work conditions and when I tried to impress some work ethics and standards was told by the owner to only go thru the suddenly appointed Chinese factory manager (who didnt speak english)No one could read drawings, they had run out of glass and resin, wanted to use gelcoat 2 years old,All thru this time the owner was flitting around the world spruiking about his wonderfull yard.Suffice it to say I packed up and came back to Australia. We now have a company there trying to put out boats which will be a complete and utter liability as well as dangerous.I would be happy to supply the name etc of this company to anyone interested |

I was the only one to "honour" that cheater with some negative pointage. It is not "polite" to skimp on that, the opposite is the case. We should use that tool more frequently to sort out such individuals here. Regards Richard |

| In the next decade China's industrial interests will rear up and show just how bad things can really get. |

| In boatbuilding sector most of them are owned by foreigners; so are we discussing Chinese or westerners? Typical story is: foreigner brings the hull to Asia and starts his production form copying the moulds. Again, we work with few Chinese builders and they are ordering designs for their production. |

I prefer expressing out my disaprovement in the discussion area, but maybe sometimes it would indeed be more appropriate to underline an important issue with other means too. |
