Salary Range: $ 59,689 - $ 93,008 USD
Position Location(s): Groton, CT

Position Summary:
The US Coast Guard seeks to fill (4) Research Physical Scientist positions within the Research and Development Center located in Groton, CT. The incumbent will serve in one of five operational branches within the Technical Division: This position requires knowledge of and experience applying maritime sensors and communications technology, Test and Evaluation (T&E) methods and doctrine technology. Positions require a strong technical background; however, the preponderance of duties involve managing/overseeing research and development projects executed by either government employees or contractors.
- Effectively manage complex research and development projects with cost, schedule and technical performance parameters.
- Conducts systematic research in problem areas that are highly complex and of considerable scope.
- Serves as a research team leader in a scientific field.
- Makes major contributions to the scientific community such as inventions or new designs and techniques
- Conducts expert scientific analysis and applies findings
- Guides and evaluates contract efforts and assesses technical progress
- Serves as a senior scientist and technical expert in implementing and evaluating complex and innovative scientific projects
- Reviews resource estimates
- Designs or directs the development of unique or leading-edge technology
