| Need linesplan made from general arrangement drawings Hi, I'm looking to build a scale model of my fathers ship for his upcoming birthday. All I could get from the maritime administration was the general arrangement of the ship, I'm no FreeShip/DelftShip wizard so I need either a linesplan made from these drawings or a hull model in FS/DS which I can print platings from. I've attached small scales of the two scans I received from the MA. They are a whole lot bigger on my computer. I can also provide rudimentary info on measurements on the ship, as well as photographs if that would help the process. Hope this is all well explained I'm looking for bids/quotes in PM, I can work through PayPal. br, soffi |

| Huge assumptions will need to be made about the actual shapes employed on your father's ship, as these accommodation plans so nearly nothing of the hull shell shapes. Are the photos of the ship out of the water and from several different angles? |

| Re Hi Soffi, I have done a lot of reverse engineering of these old ships. I probably do one every two months now days. attached is a sample of the last one I did. 3D model top Left, photo of old ship top Right, bottom scans of supplied drawings from maritime administration. and 2nd screenshot is of the cut files ready to output to CNC. Par is correct in that assumptions will need to be made for the hull shape but with photos I can get surprisingly close. A midships section is a huge help if you can get your hands on one and allows me to get a lot closer. photos from mulpital angles of the ship out of the water allows photogrammetry to be employed also. i invite you to view my website www.cadprojects.com.au where you can get an in depth view of my services and a look at my portfolio and rates. | Sofi, There is enough info on the dwgs provided to reverse engineer the vessel, well that along with whatever extra info you can provide and experience of the designer just knowing what sizes are what for a model about 3 feet long. I can provide dwgs so you can print full size patterns (A3) for frames, stringers, deck, wheelhouse and keel etc, you can lay it up with whatever you have available after that. Price: US$560. Check out my design page if you like: http://www.randall.asia/designcad%20works.htm Cheers |

| The hull shape will be approximate. Otherwise no problem.

| As pointed out by PAR and others, due to a rather particular underwater hull shape the GA plans alone are not sufficient to accurately reproduce this ship's lines. You will have to make pictures of the hull, many of them and from different angles, in order to get an approximate idea of the shape and reproduce it with a 3D software. Cheers |

| Gypsie, how can you possably have enough information about that specific hull form, based on the accommodations plan only? |

| PAR, I dont think Gypsy would answer that. It is his business secret. lol

| Hi Soffi Can you not contact the name of the company which is given in the bottom right hand corner of the GA drawing ? If that is not possible, I think the maritime administration in Iceland will require a fishing vessel of that size to have a STABILITY BOOK. That stability book is made from a drawing or definition of the hull SHAPE. In fact the stability book MAY have a copy of the hull body plan (cross sections) included in it. Step 1 - I recommend that you ask the maritime administration for a copy of that stability book. They may refuse (for reasons of data protection and privacy). Step 2 - A crew member onboard the vessel should be able to tell you if there is a copy onboard the boat (there should be !). If there is, you should look through it. Step 3 - Even if the stability book does not contain the hull drawing that you seek, it will have the name of the company of naval architects who made the stability book. THEY should have the hull shape that you seek. |

| stability boocklet Thanks! of course the MA should have the stability calculations on hand, I believe the ship also has these onboard but I have asked my father if it has any drawings along with it and there are none ![]() Unfortunately the shipyard that designed and built her went belly up ages ago. Thankfully some nice pics were taken on the last haul out so that gives me some info to get quotes from the rocket scientists that have offered their services ![]() pics attached for fun Quote:

| I guess you already asked the yard that did the haul out if they have a copy of the lines plan. I know these guys can set up their blocks etc based only on main dimensions and on experience, and maybe do not keep too much paper around their office. But there is a small chance they have a drawing from long ago - from when the vessel was first hauled out ? |
