Drafter/Designer - Superyachts

Job Type:
Fulltime, 40 hours per week (5x8 or 4x10), on-site only, either 1099 or regular hire.

Pay:
Hourly $18-23 depending upon skill and experience.

Required Skills:
Strong drafting skills and 5 years experience with AutoCAD of which 2 years must include design work. You should be very comfortable with computers, e-mail, the Internet and you must be a skilled MS Windows user.

Helpful Skills:
Marine drafting experience desired but not required. Rhino 3D modeling skills would be helpful but are not required.

Job Location:
Shelter Island, San Diego, California, U.S.A.

Relocation:
None available. Candidates must live within commute distance and be a U.S. resident with a valid work permit.

Job Description:
Under the direction of a Senior Drafter or Naval Architect, the successful candidate will produce AutoCAD LT 2004 drawings for structures, systems, piping and joinery (interiors and furnishings) of large custom motor yachts.

Your inputs will be electronic 2D views exported from a 3D modeling system, sketches, notes, written specifications and product literature from a variety of sources. From those data you will produce complete 2D plans, elevations, sections and details of professional quality for use by shipyards and craftsmen. Your drawings will be used to create production-ready shop drawings, so accuracy is essential.

Required Personal Attributes:
You should be a motivated individual with an internal commitment to producing quality work, take direction well and produce drawings that conform to office design and appearance standards. Enthusiasm for yachts, their design and a willingness to immerse yourself in yachting culture will be a practical necessity if you want to enjoy your work.

Environment:
This is a demanding but rewarding growth position with a premier superyacht design firm. Talented individuals producing quality work will be enthusiastically encouraged to grow their roles and responsibilities as quickly as practical. Our firm has designed several international award winning yachts in its 30-year history. We have some great projects underway.
