Weird how South Africans are so often negative about their own country. I have been in South Africa since 1998 and I believe it is a great country to live. No I did not live here in the apartheid's years and I imagine for many whites, times were a lot better then. I wish all South African would go and live a couple of years in Europe and experience how stressful life can be there compared to South Africa. Just talk with some South Africans in London and they will tell you how much they miss their country. South Africa is definitely a good place to build a boat. There is expertise, they are two boat building academies with very talented pupils graduating and people are used to (very) heavy seas. Of course we had some rotten apples but give me one country where they are not. By the way Robertson and Caine is doing very well, whatever you heard trough the grapevines. Of course they had to reduce their production just as everybody else on this planet.
I am originally Belgian and if you go to a pub in Antwerp they will tell you about the increasing crime, the danger of walking in the street at night, the problem of the Moroccan immigrants, the bad government (that is if there is one). Funny enough you will hear exactly the same story in a pub in Dallas Texas, Marseille France, Liverpool UK or any other place. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. For me the grass is green on the South African fields! Go Bokke!
