Any jobs going abroad for a Yacht Spray Painter/Laminator Time served back in 1996 and 17 years in the business which includes a stint living and working in Bermuda. Currently at a boatyard in Scotland but fancy going abroad again and a new challenge. As well as my 2 main trades above I regularly do osmosis treatment from peeling, blasting, filling and fairing and coating. And my first 2 years included brush painting and varnishing which I still do from time to time. Not sure if now is the best time to be looking what with the current financial crisis but if anyone has any ideas of where to look it would be much appreciated. Destination is not set in stone so anywhere would be considered (within reason) Thanks in advance, Pete

I mostly use Awl Grip but now and again I do a full respray or blow in with 2000. As for the Awl Grip Metalic, I have had a go at it and got on pretty well but it's not something I do that often if I'm being honest. I have done a few cars both respray and blow ins with Metalic also but my main area of expertise is with boats and yachts.

Found their site but there was no direct address to send my CV/Resume to. I did contact them on the form to ask if there was somewhere I could send it to so will wait and see if there is any response. Looks impressive though and would be worth a shot I reckon. Thanks.

I might contact them and see what they say, however I noticed it says "Must be Bilingual, English/Spanish" I only have the English so that might be a concern. Where is the job for, I see the contact details seem to be the US (Miami) which might explain the need to speak a bit of Spanish. Cheers again |

Maybe. I sent them my CV but didn't directly apply for that position. If they feel I have the skills for that after reading it or even if I could benefit in another area of the company who knows. Hopefully at they reply at least, nothing worse than no feedback either positive or negative.

This kind of needs updating but it's mostly pretty recent. A few examples of some work I have done. All my own work and photos. Mostly spray jobs but a few repairs in there too. http://www.flickr.com/photos/3394929...7594209424318/

Paint Job in Oman Hello Pete, We may have just the job for you! At least if you're also looking for a short stint (that may develop into something more) in a beautiful and exotic country. The place is the Sultanate of Oman, and the job is the repainting of the cabin sides of 78' motoryacht Al Zahra. Al Zahra was recently sailed from the Red Sea to Muscat (the Capital of Oman), and is now undergoing some in-water maintenance/refit work. Part of this work is a repainting of her top decks. She had an alkyd enamel on her cabin-tops that was recently stripped down to bare plywood in preparation for applying a two-coat PU (she's a wooden boat, carvel planked but sheathed in marine ply all above the water line). The ply was then coated with epoxy resin, given a coat of West System 410 filler, and is currently in the final stages of being faired with longboards. About 60% of the area has been faired to near completion and received two coats of epoxy above the filler in preparation for the primer coats (we will be using Jotun paints). The challenge I am facing is that the labor here is semi-skilled, and while they put in honest work sanding and fairing (and are nice guys ;-), I need a pro to guarantee that the prep work has been completed properly and to do the spraying himself. I will provide two helpers for sanding/masking/cleaning, but you need to be able to supervise them and get the job done to perfection yourself. I suspect the remaining work will take anywhere between 3 weeks to 1 month to complete. If you are interested in being considered for the position, please email your cv right away. We need to finish this job ASAP before the weather gets any hotter! This is a chance to work on restoring a unique wooden boat and visit a beautiful, peaceful country where the people are genuinely welcoming and hospitable. I look forward to your response. Best regards, Ali Badawy

Ali I replied to your mail via the email bit. I really need to update that photo page though as I recently sprayed a brand new Moody 45, the only reason it was sprayed was the new owner didn't like the colour and wanted it Flag Blue Awl Grip instead of a Grey/White colour......crazy, would be great to have that kind of money ![]()
