Aerodynamic sail design

Does anyone know if there are jobs in yachting in which detailed aerodynamics are researched? I am keen to work in this field and have experience in experimental testing, CFD, and an MEng in Aeronautics (1st class).

Please kindly inform me if enquiring about jobs is beyond the etiquette of this Discussion Forum? Any information would be much appreciated.

Discussion about employment opportunities and positions is absolutely on-topic for our forums. I will move this thread from the Software forum to the Services and Employment forum though, which would seem the correct place.

The answer to your question I'm sure (in theory) is yes, but I'll have to let someone else talk about the specifics of jobs actually available.

Hi,
I think you could have a look at http://www.cfd-online.com/Jobs/
there might be something in there (I didn't check).

You also should try http://www.soton.ac.uk/~wumtia/

If you do find anything, please let us know. I'd love to hear from it, it sounds very interesting.

You might have a look at a few postings I've made with reference to the subject and in support of a different style sailing rig:
http://boatdesign.net/forums/search.php?searchid=52266
and http://www.runningtideyachts.com

I have a number of ideas for some graphic presentations I would like to add to my website, but I am not a CAD user, and my computer knowledge is limited. Sorry its not a paying job, but you might get some exposure.

I'm also very interested in getting more photo representations of smoke analysis experiments on sailing rigs, and possible playing with some inexpensive smoke analysis on my mast-aft rig concept.

As you might discern from this posting, http://boatdesign.net/forums/showpos...3&postcount=44
I am somewhat put off by computer flow analysis verses actual visual methods. I think they need to compliment one another to offer more viability.

Just a few thoughts when I saw your posting, regards,
Where are you located...working at present?
,
