whats the boat worth ? should I get it.

I'm interested in this little boat and what it is, [yes its a sail boat], but what make ?
All I know is its unfinished and needs a deck. Its glass over ply. 16 ft by 64in wide with a twenty foot mast and all its cable and fastenings. 0ne may be two sails. I figure the trailer,mast and sail-s have some value if not the boat. I don't know how old it is or if the hull inside is glassed probably so. The condition is hard for me to estimate with out a one on one.
Haven't spoken with the fellow yet , but Id like to give him a call soon. I wouldn't mind equity sweet or just breaking even maybe, just want to get out on the water !
So whats it worth and what is it if you know.

With such a flat run aft I would have sworn it was a motor boat. Would it be possible to see it from direct to the side and level with the boat? Decking it wouldn't be hard...decking it nicely would be a bit more difficult. You would still have to finish off the cockpit too. Unless you are experienced at boat building it will probably take you a minimum of 100 hrs work to finish it off. Is it a centerboarder or daggerboarder or is there a keel that should be there? Is the rudder there? Do you have fittings? How long is the boat (looks to be about 14 or so ft)? After asking yourself all these...is it worth it or would it be better to buy a used clorox bottle that comes complete?

Either by a Grp boat or a wodden boat, but not a sheathed boat. This used to done to wooden boats where the rot had got in and they weren't worth spending good money to repair. sheathing gave them a few more years before the actual sheathing falls off due to the moisture build up between the glass surface and the wood surface. It also accelerates rot tin the wood because of the moisture layer that is trapped and can't be dried out or vented.

Well the mast and bits and pieces might be worth 10 dollars, the trailer maybe 20 at a pinch, the hull could easily be valueless, and it could easily cost you a couple of thousand dollars before you got it in any condition worth putting near the water at which point if you were very lucky it might be worth half what you've spent fixing it up. I too find the craft much more convincing as a motor boat.
No harm in doing this sort of thing for the fun of doing it, if it appeals to you, but be very aware that the traditional definition of a boat as a hole in the water into which money is poured is never truer than when applied to this kind of project.

.... lewisboats--Looks like a motor could be appropriate for boat. It could have been intended for, but built for sailing. I don't have any more information other than what is all ready noted, no other pictures. At 300.00-400.00 drinking Clorox and ammonia, may be a better choice, shaken with ice.

........ SEAYMER ---[sheathed boat] . Familiar with but Googled it any way. This build is , [new] but unfinished ,laying around several years.I agree it looks sheathed not ply and designed that way I think. About moisture,osmosis etc. I see your concern. I suppose I could take an Ice pick and caulking with me to see for my self.
.......... If I decide to get it,I may just cover the top and water proof it. If I like boat ownership I may move on to a 16-18 foot trimaran, four people capacity. So I may just get it for short term use depending on its health.

.......... New question, The owner said all fittings for 20 ft. mast and the sails are there. If boat is salvageable for a year or two would the mast/sails be good to scavenge for a better boat, could they be worth the 300. I may pay ??

Dont touch that thing with a ten foot pole. If the guy pays YOU $300 to take it away then take the boat and the money then haul the boat to the landfill and leave it there. You will be 300 bucks ahead toward buying a boat that is actually a sailboat. Buy that boat and you are buying disappointment.
