No boat should be designed for sailing in the conditions we had yesterday. Think about this and think about the vessels that finished. I have no gripe with the AC boat and TP 52 designers who would not expect a race to be started when the predicted wind speed for the entire day was but 1 MPH. If not for the boat parade I suspect the SSSS race yesterday would also have been canceled. BTW, Murrelet joined the parade as a spectator and in hopes of finding He Lives, the J Boat that did finish the racing. It was a odd if magical evening owing to fog. I hope all had fun. Even the foul mouth in the dinghy. We have found a new use for the VHF send button. Should be fun next time. Merry Christmas. FYI PHRF was designed for cruising class and not race boats. any vessel with a rating under 300 should be out there racing. Folks like Tripp Gal, Crank Boy and Bubba would like to scare many off the courses. They need to give way for the good of the sport. The battle appears to never end. But there will be an end. | This thread just doesn't die, eh? Would anyone care to explain why we repeatedly compare a 26 foot trailer-based lake cruiser with a 52-foot ocean racer? Other than the fact that both have sails, a propeller and a hull, I can't see many real points of comparison. Anyone? Please? Or shall we just accept that they're different animals, and live in peaceful harmony aboard our respective yachts?

As has been Proven, the discussion is (in fact) comparing a 26 foot ocean racing grey hound, with a 52 foot inshore sail boat of doubtful pedigree and/or future. Of course they are comparable: 26 goes into 52 twice. AND if you divide 52 in half you get 26 Mmm, see? and there's more: 52 divided by itself gives you 1. 26 divided by itself gives you, wait for it, 1!!!! Coincidence? I think not! Both are ballasted in some way. Both, arguably, have a sharp end AND a blunt end The similarities are endless. You must be getting an idea of the obvious conspiracy by now? AND, GET THIS: BOTH designs have been, at some time or other, in the same ocean as a certain president GWB has swum in. I haven't yet verified it but if true, that STINKS of obvious Al Quaida involvment. Mmm, yes. and CIA. and also KGB. |

| the tp52's motor is probably somewhere around 50hp, same with the 26x. Frank, the reason you fouled someone if that you are incompetent. in that little wind, boats don't move fast, and you should have plenty of time to react and plan ahead. thank god it wasn't much wind, or else you probably would have t-boned someone.

| LOL! Guess that explains it all, RThompson. Conspiracies everywhere.... ![]() The cradle for one of the yachts at my local marina has, marked on it quite clearly, "Pointy End" and "Blunt End". (No, the boat is NOT a Mac.) (For those of you who didn't get it, the point I was trying to make earlier is that certain folks are making a big fuss over comparing things that cannot legitimately be directly compared.)

Yeah, if I was the PRO (look it up Frank), I wouldn't let you sail because you are a threat to the other competitors' safety and property. Call it a conspiracy if you will, but if I was the commodore of your club, your ass would be kicked out for being an embarrassment to the club. I wish someone had a video of the protest room. I also want to hear your explanation for both hitting the committee boat, and the leward one.

Protest to the windward boat, leeward failed to give room to keep clear. What idiot would screw up their start by sailing under a boat making leeway?
