| So have you guys officially retitled this thread from "TP52s" to "Let's Slander Frank"? Come on, you yachtsmen are starting to sound like seventh-graders in the locker room. Surely nobody would be saying what they've been saying here if their real-life reputations were at stake. Some civility, please?

| How could you say that big boats ruin a "natural ability" to sail? Sailing, while it may feel natural, is still an acquired skill and sailing big boats is, aside from some differences, not very different from dinghy sailing, I think.

| Interesting article re: building/maintaining a TP52 program in this months SW. and more fuel for the fire.... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Marlieke de Lange Eaton 401-683-0800 US SAILING HIRES JIM TEETERS FOR OFFSHORE PROGRAMS Portsmouth, R.I. (October 18, 2005) – US SAILING, national governing body for the sport, announced today that Jim Teeters (Newport, R.I.) has joined the organization as Associate Offshore Director. Teeters brings to US SAILING a strong capability in yacht design and offshore rating rules. He has 24 years of experience as a yacht designer, which he gained while working for Sparkman & Stephens and Langan Design. He understands the inner workings of rating rules through a decade of membership on the IMS International Technical Committee and has long been known as the “brains” behind the AMERICAP rule. These skills combined with his naval architectural background will ensure the continued smooth growth of the new (to the US) IRC fleet. Teeters’ addition to the US SAILING staff ensures that the Offshore office will continue as the country’s responsive, timely offshore sailboat rating organization and the authoritative source for U.S. offshore sailing information. Because of Teeters’ yacht design and rating rule expertise, US SAILING will be able to expand its services to racers, most notably in the area of performance optimization. US SAILING’s Offshore Department is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the offshore racing rating systems active in the U.S. These include IRC, IMS, AMERICAP and MORC. The office also administers the sail numbering system, the publication of offshore rules, regulations, time-allowance tables, safety reports, the distribution of bulletins relating to rule changes and event schedules plus the sanctioning of ISAF approved Safety at Sea Seminars and training. The United States Sailing Association (US SAILING) is the national governing body for sailing and sailboat racing. Headquartered in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, the organization’s mission is to encourage participation and promote excellence in sailing and racing in the U.S. US SAILING offers training and education programs, supports a wide range of sailing organizations and communities, and provides administration and oversight of competitive sailing across the country, including the US Sailing Teams and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Teams. | Since when is asking a question libel? Frank’s obsession with RC and the TP 52 class is well known thus my question – but I do understand your points so back to correcting Frank’s lies. - The TP 52 class is still experience growth unprecedented for a box rules class (at least since the heyday of the 50’s). - The class has attracted the top athletes and owners in the sport and although the Cat 1 driver rule seems to be keeping away several of the Mediterranean fleet away Kew West and the Worlds in Miami should be something to watch. -As to ruining a persons ability to sail – Frank care to elaborate? As to SA – go ahead an post there. You have been banned, you have been asked (or told) not to use your work computers for you irrational ranting, you have had threads here closed and you no longer serve in any capacity at SSSS from what I can gather. Combine this with your unwillingness to understand that the number of active TP52 is now in excess of 30 (unlike the 20 or less you claim) and any reader here can easily see that you lie (either by intent or ignorance). By the way please re-read High Performance Sailing and have someone else do the math calculations as I believe you are in error. |

| Frank – care to Comment: TP 52’s by Fleet Mediterranean (13 + 1) - Aifos, Atalanti, Baleria, Bribon, Caixa Galicia, Cristablela, Orlanda, Pinta, Pisco Sour, Sotto Voce, World Force - Notes: Cristabela was totaled in a shore side accident – new hull is being built, Atalanti will travel to the US when new boat is built (currently for sale & roomer has her under contract.) US (16) - Bambakou, Braveheart, Bright Star, Flash, Fram, Lightwave, Mean Machine, Pegaus, Platoon, Quantum Racing, Rush, Rosebud, Sjambok, Trader, Warpath, Yassou. EU (3) - Patches, Stay Calm, Team Astro - Notes: Patches will be traveling to the US JPN (2) - Beau Geste, Unknown (Frank Pong) - Notes Beau Geste is in the US and Frank and Carl follow each other in competitive spirit. That makes 33 active (Measured in class) TP 52’s with 1 having a new hull being build and 1 being replaced by a new boat Franks claim no more than 20 – "The TP52s are claimed to be the fastest growing ocean racing design but there will still be under 20 of them by the end of 2005." From the 1st post in this thread. In reality there are currently 32+ TP 52's and it still is 2005. Frank care to correct your statment? Comments ……….. |

| Braveheart owned by Charles Burnett and resides in Seattle. I recall Frank claiming he could beat Colin and crew on their 52 if the wind was under 5 knots. Or was that miles per hour? I get those nautical expressions confused all the time. |

| I think he means that if they are sailing with the wind at five mph (as he would say-->he's a powerboater turned semi-sailor, by his own admission) and him in his Mac26 at WOT... Nothing against powerboaters! I swear! I'm a powerboater, but I sail dinghies and try to keep both separate. Knots are the only way to go on the water!

| (Wide open throttle...) Well, the last one is for certain...but not the scum one, and I'd actually say that he's VERY misinformed.

| In 5 KTS TWS - TP 52 Target is 4.28 and DW VS (MHG) is 5.80 + Wonder what the Mac 26 TVS is in 5 TWS ????? For Frank: TWS = True Wind Speed ( In Knots) Target = Projected boat speed of wind speed and angle DW = Down Wind TVS = Target boat speed VS = Boat Speed MHG = Mast Head Genoa |
