I've studiously avoided this thread for some time for various reasons, some guy told me I just had to read it as it was entertaining - I have - it isn't! There again I did find Mein Kampf entertaining and that too is about the ravings of a madman, looks like this icecream seller (where I come from all people with Italian names sell Ice Cream for some reason!) is'nt quite mad enough yet - he's getting there but not yet!

34 TP 52's world wide as Platoon roles out of the shed - really nice looking 52 (but then arn't they all). Several boats will stay in the US to play and the rest will go the MED - proves fast and fun is a good class motto.

Dock talk has it that the winner of Wed in KWRW has a new crew shirt that says something to the affect of:

Franks lies aside the class continues to grow. No Frank I still don't get paid by the class (or anyone else) to point out and refute your lies - I just enjoy racing in the class and watching you make a fool of yourself with regards to: Physics, Sailing, TP 52 class rules, TP 52 class members, Racing Rules of sailing, Yacht design, Law and several other areas that you extreemly limited knowledge of.

Defender, Since you really seem to be in the know, any insights on who leads the charge on standing rigging and inovation i.e PBO slings etc.....Aramid, Navtec, Hall...etc.? Thanks in advance.

Have seen some good work out of Hall and Aramid both also some cup level stuff out of Southern. What specificaly are you looking at - new or replacing?

The M32 looked ok but a bit clunky at the fittings and the "Slaper Stoppers" seemed to just add windage. All in all though the guys on New Wave and Grins seemed happy the the all aramid standing gear. Guess it all comes down to the project and where you are ....

Thanks Defender, Just curious on your opinion since you really seem to be in the know. I have some friends in the rigging industry so I am always curious to know who is inovating etc.

Don't know if I'm in the Know or Not - I did convert one TSC72 to Aramid D's and did some stuff with I14's standing rigging (the 14 where a flop FYI). Hope I helped ...

Other 52 info (and Newport - Bermuda) after the mess in the Trans Pac and Newport Bermuda the last two years SSB is now not required.....

All boats Shall carry a standalone (provided) race track transponder
and Shall carry either:
- SSB
or
- Sat phone and a SSB receiver (Si Tek, Grundig, Sony etc)

Lets see put 40 + pounds of gear that is questionable as to effectiveness (SSB, Tuner, Ground plane) that works sometimes or carry your Sat phone (which most yachts now carry anyway) and 2 lbs of SSB receiver. Glad to see the Lessons from the Trans Pac where taken to heart by the organizers and RC and they are now allowing yachts to compete with modern and reliable technology .

Platoon is certainly one gorgeous boat.
Would be most interested to see what a 52 might do on the Great Lakes.... we don't get many big boats around here for some reason. Too bad, since last season we had weeks on end of 20-30 knot plus breezes around here. As fun as the old car ferry is, it just isn't quite the same....

Yep, making lots of progress there Frank. The reputation of the TP52 has sunk just about completely under the surface thanks to your well reasoned arguments... not. And here you are, caught in another lie, this time that the SA Ed shares your dim view of the TP52 class, which you stated some months ago.
