    Hi,

I am about to embark in a tornado design project, mainly for my own interest but also towards my degree. It will be the first multi hull I will attempt to design, so therefore my need for help. If anybody is got some useful information on the design of tornado’s or knows anything about them I would be great full if you could drop a message. I have downloaded the class rules which look reasonably simple. I am now starting with the hulls…

    Thanks to you all
    Ivan

There isn't much tolerence in the class rules, enough to mess around a bit but its a tight box to play in. If i was you i would look at F18 or F20 rules, much more scope for a new design.
The Tornado design has been evolutionary and I doubt you would come up with anything faster without knowing the boat absolutley inside out, and knowing how to corect its weaknesses. One thing they do do is hobby horse downwind in waves, due to the lack of rocker aft if you talk to some class experts, I dont think you can play with the rocker enough to fix this and stay in class, without messing with some other aspect of the boat.
