I think you have to be really brave to do so! I mean to build a boat made of concrete at home! By brave I mean by wasting time and money to do so! Only specail people can do so!

Where I come from the worst three boats are diffirent design but same matrial which is plams leaves the hard bit is used mainly by fishermen to make fishing boats very light some would last for a week others for a year if you are lucky enough and the strongest would last for a maximum of two years! :(

Mcgreagor 26! They are trash as well! Would never buy one, prefer to buy me a motor bike and become a big fat biker than having of those trashy boats!

Ooh, this could get dangerous.... emotions run high around the Mac26, around here. A lot of people really passionate about this thing, mostly detractors but there's always the vocal proponent....

Which verson of the Mac26 are we talking about? the first ones wern't that bad but they wen't downhill by preciptious "improvements".

    As for the worst 3....

In sailing ability (not that they didn't meet design requirements)?
    1) Kon-Tiki
    2) Ra
    3) a round curragh

Or overall implimentation of design requirements (not that they sailed badly, though some do)?
    1) New Zealand (1988)
    2) Westsail 32
    3) CJ

Edit: You said boats...so I left out a lot of horrible ships....

Just out of curiousity- what about the Mac26 makes it so exquisite or passionately debated example of a terrible sailing boat.

    -It's not overly beamy.
    -It has a rotating mast
-It employs a fairly decent water ballast technology. Something with more adjustability would be a better design though. Perhaps a water ballast providing multiple storage cells allow the sailor to choose his ballast.
    -It's pretty cheap ready-to-sail
    -Seems to be beachable.

    On the flip-side:
-My mental image of construction quality is shoddy at worst, and tolerable at best.
-Seems to have about a mile of freeboard
-not alot of freshwater capacity for a "cruiser"
    -Likely, a tippy CG.

    So- educate me.

For the most part, a power boat with a sail. Good for noobs that dont know what they want.

Yea, I gotta admit that pic's pretty silly looking.

I would be interested in more detailed stats of the thing, because it gives me the impression of being over ballasted under sail and with a low roll moment.

Or I could just be dropping random sailing terms in hopes of impressing someone. ;)
