Does anyone have much information on modern synthetic materials as a replacement for Stainless steel rigging?

West Marine is now selling PBO with a UV/Waterproof jacket made by Applied Fibers. It is a direct retrofit to wire or rod rigging. You specify the lengths and end types. Bolts right on. There's an article on it in the Jan/Feb issue of Sailing World.
