Retractable 360 propulsion unit for sailing yacht

    Thanky you Brian on your info,
    I was allready on Brunvoll site but at that time they didn't have anything what would really fit to my problem, but with this new info about Van der Velden there is maybe something in.

    360° retracrable stern or bow thruster

    Hi,
    I belief I can help. What you need is a so called Voith-Schneider propellor system. This sytem was developed for commercial vessels. A German company Hübner-Braun offers scaled down units for sailboats. Try this link:

    Hi,
    this link to the site of SPW GmbH in Bremerhaven, Germany is current and offers the Hübner-Braun propulsion unit as a custom-build (apparently not enough orders yet to go to series production.)

    Hydraulic Drive

    Not exactly a 'retractable drive' in this particular form on this older catamaran, but being that it is hydraulic in nature it could be.

    Here is a 1975 catamaran that has a single motor with twin props driven by hydraulic power. I think it speaks well of a hydraulic system to have operated this long
