| Reducing the roach in the leach of a used sail Could I with a REED'S SAILMAKER sewing machine recut the leach, shorten the battens and pockets( 5 ) of a catamaran sail. I have a large area to do the lofting from my old main. Bacon used sails has some new/unused mains to fit my short boom (8')Chrysler 26. |

| It depends on your expectations. The shape of the sail will change and perform poorly; particularly upwind. If loss of some speed and pointing capability are not a problem, you shouldn't have a problem. Also, another change will be that the boom angle. It will increase because the roach is usually shorter than the panel forward of it. Check for boom to cabin clearance. |
