    My problem is, I know diddley about steps. The nice thing about the ADF is it automatically puts the sailors CoG above the foil allowing considerable freedom of choice for its longitudinal location, so - within reason - the step can be located where it best suits the boat; or perhaps where it causes the least harm. The step probably needs to be near the boat's CoG. I wonder how steps work on a heeled boat . . . so on to research of sailboats with stepped hulls - I notice there are some threads right here on the forum.
