Payson Cat Mast material Have sent for construction drawings but already thinking about the materials. The mast looks like about 16ft. Is there a GRP mast available at that size? I will not make a wooden mast again! Metal? Wood already made? Thanks.

Do you mean one of the catboats designed by Phil Bolger with plans sold by H.H. Payson? If so, I would think that making the wood spars out of lumberyard stock would be one of the more pleasant parts of the job. However, if you need catboat parts, you may well get some help from the folks at Areys Pond. You might even be able to adapt their carbon fiber mast, if you wish to pay for it. http://www.areyspondboatyard.com/index.html

SeaDrive; After reading your input maybe I should look at constructing the mast myself. I just remembered having a tough time with my 28' Piver Tri mast but you are right it was much bigger. Thanks.
