I need some advice. I am looking for a first boat to build. I would like a 12-15 ft sail/rower for lakes and coastal waterways. I haven't sailed in some years. I am considering the Glen-L 16, the NW marine designs K16 / delta V or a arch-davis laughing gull. Any advice? How important is an open transum/self bailer? Is there any rigging that is better than others for a novice? I have built a cedar strip kayak and am comfortable wit the basic building. Thanks in advance-greyson

I have no knowledge of the other suppliers, but Glen-L does a good job of customer support. Your choice of what boat is best for you will depend on what you intend to do with it.
