| New Rules IC Attached are some pictures of "Wonk." As of today the hull weighs 26.5 kg. Construction is 3mm occume ply with 200gsm carbon cloth at +/- 45. Doublers in chainplates and high load areas. Bulkheads every 520mm are balsa and carbon. Boat was built over a jig with 3" pipes at the chines with the topsides uncambered. They were rolled up after release to create tumblehome bow. Looking kind of fun. SHC ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Ic Steve, hate to be dense but what are we looking at in the top two pictures? Seems like the deck but doesn't seem to go with the bottom picture. Looks like you've made quick progress.Congrads! |

| Steve, What is the deal with the new rules? Have they been approved yet? I've been wanting to design and build a canoe for quite a while now, but I would definitely be more interested if the rules that you proposed actually went through

| Status of the rule change will be clear at the end of March. The ICF Sailing Committee will be meeting in Florida and observing and sailing at least one new boat during the mid winter regatta. It is hoped that a resolution will be passed at that time and a time table identified. It is a quirk of the IC that it is governed by the International Canoe Federation and not ISAF. This means that the "Sailing Committee" is really the world council. It is composed of members from the various canoe sailing nations, but has to operate within the structure of a governing body far more focused on paddles and the Olympics. SHC

| Here's my take on the new IC proposed rules. Very different to the SHC boat. Similar to my axeman moth and cherub designs - fine entry, vertical topsides, low chines, flat bottom, with pintail stern. The pictured mould is now complete, the boat will be carbon / foam, starting next week. |

| Ic Andy, what's your theory on using a flat bottom rather than a lower wetted surface shape? I think I remember reading somewhere that on a Moth hull you thought the section was best for a high beam to length ratio hull-is that right? That being narrow was more important than the slight difference in wetted surface? |

| You should find lots of data in the literature on Wigley hulls that would be applicable!

| Although if you do flip it over, it's a stepped hull, with lifting foils (?)! Certain French Multi designers would approve.... Paul |
