| The reason I was thinking of a skeg is not so much for the gain in strength but to alter the handling. If I'm carrying a bit too much mainsail for the conditions I will(as expected) get weather helm, that's ok but the rudder seems to stall out too soon and then she rounds up. Also my keel/rudder configuration allows me very little time hands off, even trimmed as best as my skill allows. Needs frequent fine adjustment on the tiller.. Under engine I cannot let the tiller go even for a moment as it loads up under prop wash and as soon as it's slightly off dead ahead it will then rapidly slam over to one side or the other if I do not keep my hand on it. Would a skeg help alleviate these issues? Mychael |
