My 50ft Fast Cruiser project

This project is not nearly finished and stopped a long time ago as do not think i will ever be able to afford a boat like this, but i would like your opinions on these rough renderings.

It will feature a free standing mast.

I think it is very good looking but, in my opinion, could be improved by losing about half the windows.. Do you have any tentative numbers?

The window area problem has my attention, they give much weight aloft, are vulnerable, and not necessarily good looking.

About the numbers, there will have to be a balance between weight and comfort. Did not decide on the final figures yet.

the think is sparks, that apart from all else, windows cost a great deal of money, like many thousands, plus making the trim good around such areas is extremely time consuming IMO you could go for the deck saloon, deck saloon really means that when seated your line of eye can see out , So IMO opinion, deck sal;oon and flush deck, looks good, and saves money, plus is very easy and safe t work on deck, You have used up most of your deck, and what for

This project started as my personal dream boat, not considering costs. If ever realized i hope i will be by someone who is not looking for a cheap boat.

One of the basic ideas behind this design is a low sheerline, combined with a relatively high superstructure to keep weight centered (not a comfort but speed factor) hence the filled deck. The handrails around the superstructure make it safe to work on deck. The sailplan will be of a configuration that makes it unnecessary to go to the foredeck in rough weather.

What bothers me about most deck saloon boats is the inability to look out of the windows when inside.

yes BUT thats what i explained, they are not true decksolons This is the decksaloon, I commissioned as a line, I only built the one, larger monos dont sell well here Deck saloon are very compremised under 63 feet, you miss out on that third cabin,

and I,ve yet to be on Ocean or any passage, when I didnot have to get up on deck for one reason or another

Totally agreed, i have met this problem in the interior layout many times. I do have some longer versions. The problem is that when the boat becomes longer it will be harder to handle even with modern sailplan and sail handling systems.

At sea, with so much inboard rake on you coamings, it becomes hard to walk, you trip on the bottom of the coaming Seaspark, and have no support at the salon roof, you understand I,m seeing this from a practical point of view,

Hmm, good point i will look into that.

Part of the reason for the rake on the coamings or the sloping deck was walkability under heel. may have overshot my goal here.

yes, but some dopey paint rep sold me this (waterproof) wayer based (varnish) and hence the bad sole, since the I scraped it back and it look fine

Part of my concept is a free standing mast, headsails will only be carried in light or well crewed conditions. With a free standing mast carrying no headsails many of the reasons to go beyond the mast to the foredeck are eliminated.

I am considering options for a movable lateral plane to compensate for headsail absence, presence.

i am working with one of your countrymen at moment he is designing a little yacht with me

Still have many different sections in my mind, from flat out racing ones to long keeled/centreboard like some of the Koopmans designs, perhaps a potential client can decide.

I am willing to collaborate with an experienced NA to finish this project and sell it to a customer with good taste , thanks for the offer.
