I'd love to say I've answered the eternal question, is a Moth a babe magnet, in the affirmative. I'm not sure daughters count ....but they do help out the photos.

Stephen, this is probably a stupid question but would a square head main be legal on a "Classic"?

- Boats dodging harbour traffic

Dead right, Ed, and thanks for bringing up these factors from watching (and competing in?) the regatta. Some of us have been trying to point out for ages that you cannot just take the results of one regatta or race and use it to "prove" the performance of a class, without looking at ALL the factors.

I'm sorry Doug, (with absolutely no offense to the dedicated Nippon foiling sailors... are there any to speak of) but isn't this pretty much like cherry picking for the World Champ? The best Japanese entrant, Yasuhiro Watanabe, from the recent Worlds at Lake Garda finished at 24th position.... The Best Japanese entrant. The next two Japanese guys hit 51 and 52 on the finishing list.

What's next.... "Rohan Veal wins the Zanzibar Western Indian Ocean title against four of the richest sailors on the island. All hail Rohan!"

Come on, Doug, this is non-news. I can't believe that Rohan put this on his web page. It must be really slow in Foiling Mothville to see this as newsworthy.

I find it interesting that they are going full tilt to protect certain elements of their intellectual property. Could this mean that the company sees a Peoples Foiler down the line that could benefit from their technology and further improve the bottom line?

I guess they are anticipating the potential for a global recession of sorts triggered by the coming US recession which in turn is being triggered by the ridiculous credit market stupidity in the housing sector.

While I deeply admire the guys for rolling the dice, it is an entirely high risk enterprise considering the looming cloud over the world's economies which are tied to the fortunes of the US financial markets... and that would be just about everyone with any kind of GDP of merit.

Should be interesting to watch.

Any idea what 'single sided tensioning of a membrane within a frame' is? Sounds like a cunningham to me?

astevo suggested that it was a method of tensioning the tramps if I understood him correctly....
