Mirabella V in trouble

I'm sorry to read the news on the International Boat Industry (IBI) E-news that Mr. Vittoria's yacht has dragged anchor and is now hard aground in the Med. Several accompanying vessels are lending aid, but she appears to be damaged significantly.

OMG! I saw this post earlier but I was at work and didn't have time to read the article at the link... I just did now. That's a pretty awful looking situation...

That's a pointless remark, and unfounded, because I strongly suspect that you have no idea of all the electronics that's onboard of these kind of yachts!

it was blowing force 6-7 i have heard.
maybe they should have anchored a bit further out to sea.
did you know why they had troubles with the rig, i do, one of the crew was a dinghy sailor & thought if they used the halyard to lean the boat over it would help ha ha ha ha eh eh eh

i didn't know that the anchors dragged, i thought it was moving and hit the rocks.

Anyway it is still the same, the ppl responsible for the boat could have invested some more resources in designing,using appropriate anchors etc.

Obviously, someone messed up big time.

What I find disturbing is how many people find the whole thing so amusing. It doesn't seem all that funny to me.

I don’t know if funny is the right word for it. But one of the most expensive sailboats in the world with all the modern conveniences that you can have on the bridge and in good weather ends up on the rocks. What does that tell you about technology and the value of the money spent. It doesn’t matter why she is in this predicament, what matters is the fact that she is in this jam.

what that tells you is that technology can never eradicate human error. It is a shame that it happened so soon, the boat would have had an impressive career and mark on the sailing world.
