J-Class hull

Hi,
I got Ranger plans from the Mystic Seaport.
I put the points into an excel spreadsheet and tried to surface the points
in Catia at work ( surfaces aren't my speciality. )
The problem is that the points don't smooth out too well and Catia doesn't have a good smoothing application.
Has anybody got a surface model of a J-class.? I can cope with any format ( we have everything at work )
It is my ambition to build a 2 metre model for radio control.

Thanks
Howard

Howard...there are many kits out there for radio controlled models of the J-class. These might do you best. Tim (Mini) Endeavour J owner

Thank people,
I am not into kits, I like to work things through from scratch.
One of my colleagues is going to run the points through IcemSurf.
It might cost a few beers.!
I already found links to the amya and others, hopefully the tide has changed and I am off the sandbank.
thx
Howard

Howard:

You might want to contact either of these two organizations. The J Class Association
(http://www.jclassyachts.com) is the group that organizes the J Class regattas and Dykstra and Partners (http://www.gdnp.nl/) are builders of J Class yatchs such as Hanuman, Rainbow, and New Yankee, in the planning stages. My mini J was built in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, UK and as that is closer than NY to your local, you might want to ask around there. The plug is still around as far as I know, and the hull was laid up at Mustang Marine, though they may be out of business. Did you check out the pictures of my mini J...she is 6M LOA and 3.6M LWL, 1M in beam and 1M in depth and she is for sale. Good luck and Happy Holidays!

That's nice Tim, I am envious.
It's a shame they don't make beautiful yachts any more.
