Please join us for an exceptional event that will explore the behind the scene of the partnership EPFL-Alinghi: a discussion on cutting-edge research efforts around and technologies used by the Alinghi team, winner of the America's cup in 2003. There will also be an information booth on display that will explain the models and simulations developed at EPFL. EPFL and Alinghi are now working together again to prepare the boat for the next America's cup and use the extra time to make fundamental research that also has an impact beyond sports, such as the development of new materials in medicine and simulation in blood circulation.

    Date and time:
    Thursday June 10, 2004 at 6:30 pm
Discussion will be followed by a reception.

    Location:
    Consulate of Switzerland, SHARE
    420 Broadway
    Cambridge, MA 02138

    Panelists:

    - Prof. Jan-Anders Manson, director of the Laboratory of Composite and Polymer Technology at EPFL (http://dmxwww.epfl.ch/ltc/ltc_main.htm)
Professor Manson will speak about the new parts in composite materials that his lab developed in collaboration with the Alinghi team. The use of composite material plays a vita role for the construction of the hull, the mast, the appendices, the sails and the overall equipment of the boats.

    - Dirk Kramers, designer in chief, Alinghi team
Dirk Kramers has been involved in building Class America boats since 1977, without ever missing an edition! He will share with us the challenges and the team work behind the design of Alinghi.

Please create a downloadable version afterwards!

Brilliant with a live feed! :)
But could you pretty please create a downloadable version in Quicktime or whatever for future reference.
Jeff might be able to host it here if you don't want to in the long run.
As several interested parties are on other parts of the globe watching a live feed on the internet is less than an optimum solution.
    Pleease! :)
