I will be including a short bowsprit, however it was intended just to accommodate the anchor rollers. I wil consider relocating the forestay to the forward end of same.

Question...If I reduce the overlap of the headsail, will this move the centre of effort of the rig forward or does it not change?

I love the timeless Peter Cole designs..............

Booms fitted and mainsail is all set to go. Unfortunately its Father's day tomorrow and I have other commitments etc. Several days of fresh wind forecast for the early part of the week.

I have returned the mast to a more vertical position and shifted the fore stay to the most forward position. Looks the part in the all important moment as you row away from the yacht.

Sailed Ramona yesterday. 10 to 12 knots of true wind, slight slop. Where as I used to have lee helm up wind in these conditions, admittedly only light helm but annoying. Now I have very slight weather helm, Boat would steer itself upwind and I could vary the helm by shifting my weight for and aft. This was with a 150% genoa. The original sail plan is identical to a Holland 25, now the main looks more like Mansanita in the quarter tonner thread but dacron.

I never had to reef the original main, 25 knots over the deck up wind and I eased the traveller a bit. This one I reckon will need reefing at about 18 knots.

Speed upwind seemed the same but speed out of a tack was better and easier. Faster reaching and definitely down wind as you would expect. The main has 3 full length battens and a loose foot. Unexpected bonus was the main was much quieter in no wind/slop, none of that annoying slatting. I use a fibreglass boom strut, same one with the old boom but I think the added weight and more sail area down low and full length battens prevent slatting.
