| Hydroptere takes new direction For all the hyped-up foilistas out there; a new direction for the French foiling project, Hydroptere, was announced. Here's a synopsis of the project in English. "Announced today, new collaboration with the Polytechnical school of Lausanne and also Bertrand Cardis of Decision 35 and AC fame. A smaller version (12m) will be used to test technologies and sail on Lake Geneva. Swiss bankers behind with the $$. Existing boat to be relaunched in August." If you want to go to the French language site and can benefit from the French text: http://www.hydroptere.com/index.php4?lang=EN Ahh, yes, its' simply amazing what real money, a real boat and a very strong gang of technically experienced folks can do for a project... |

| New Directions Boy are you right! It's great to see hydroptere going forward and terrific that they have forged an on going development group to build on the success(and failures) of this incredible boat. I'm curious to see the results of the application of bi-foil monofoiler technology, as used by the International Moth, to the following projects-two out of three which have commited to using it and one which will use it on a 100' monofoiling keelboat. I believe there is potential for these new projects to develop extraordinarily fast ocean speed boats that may rival hydroptere in some conditions and, maybe, in terms of reliability. | why would you want those projects to rival hydroptere in reliability? That boat keeps breaking her foils. |
