| Thanks for the feedback. This calculation demonstrates that to engineer for extreme sea conditions requires extreme structures. I doubt that very many production boats are designed to withstand this magnitude of force. I will be wise to stay within sight of land with my Sandpiper. |

But why don't you fit one or two deckbeams on the cabin top, that will reduce the size of the panels and the beams will take most of the loads. You'll need a lot less thickness. And I'll look for an other value for the design pressure, more appropriate for your type of boat (I think 18 kPa is more appropriate). Quote:
