Ft Lauderdale Boatshow sailing vessels ??

Did anyone attend the '07 Ft Lauderdale boat show that might have taken any photos of actual vessels in attendance, or scale models in the designers tent??

Was 'SAIL' represented at all??

Fort Lauderdale does a lousy job in getting sailboat mfg. to show. I live here and stopped going 3 years ago. Beneteau, with a plant just up the coast didn't even send one boat. I can't blame them, this is GO-Fast and Kill-a-fish country with a little of Mine-is-bigger-than -yours thrown in for luck.

I think it is a waste of time for most consumers, but I believe some manufactures and designers have benefitted from being there. For instances I believe when Jim Clark first got the boating bug he meet the builder of his first (and subseguently second vessel) at that show.

And I believe Malcolm Tennant has done rather well there as part of the New Zealand group.

There is a lot of money that walks thru that show, and sometimes it takes only a whimsical moment to generate a desire to pursue some boating dream.

Brian,
The show is a fantastic show. Hugh, it takes 2 days to see most of it. I was only commenting on the sailboat aspect of the show. There isn't.

Ft Lauderdale display

Been there several occassions, it is a big show.

I liked the designers tent, but have not been able to display there. Besides it would be difficult to justify moneywise with only one or two projects in mind for this superyacht market.

Your designs should do well at the FTL show and the Miami show. It seems to work for the Charter bunch that comes up from the islands, and the South Americans.
Good luck, and if you decide to show next year send me a ticket. Darn things coast $20.00
