Freedom 40 centerboard

I have not been on the Freedom 40 hull # 4 that I purchased last month. How is the centerboard raised and lowered and is there a manual back up?

On mine its strictly manual, originally a bronze captive winch with a wire pennant mounted on the side of deck house in front of the mizzen mast ( a real knuckle biter ) . I changed to a self tailing winch with a spectra pennant mounted on the deck beside the mizzen mast. It has much more mechanical advantage and saves the knuckles.
