Aft boom outhaul assy is pictured.

Is this a pre- or post- 1993 part?

Is is nec to replace it?

What function for long rod attached to boom? Need special parts?

    Thanks!

    Guessing ....

Don't know about the vintage, but the rod is where the clew is attached to the boom - it provides an attachment point that does not bind like a strap around the boom - which enables the foot to move far easier under load. I would guess the wire is attached to some type of purchase arrangement inside the boom - probably 2:1 at least. If rope emerges at the other end my guess is probably right.

Yes, as I guessed. But could not ascertain how or what fastens to clew to enable adjustment etc.

    Appreciate the responses.

Still need to date the aft boom item. It seems I can rig that as I wish anyway, as this mast and boom are not going on a Force 5, but good to have a model to guide application.

Not many 5 sailors around and likely fewer attend this site, but one never knows. Winters are long here.

So this thread does not linger in the way.

I was informed and more by Chris on the Force 5 site. It is as Par and CutOnce noted and there are variations. I have now to choose.

    Thanks for the help.
