This is a great project and a fine accomplishment for the Swedish students. That said, it has more than a little bit of a "pigs fly!" motivation. Before we dig into the mountains of possibilities that will happen "when pigs fly" we should get straight what was accomplished. The hull looks like an Opti but there is some talk in the video that some advanced graphene material was used. Do we know the weight of the boat? Would it be class legal if it had regular foils?
The video appears to show a talented young sailor foiling in 5M/s wind -looks like at an optimal 270 deg, and he is working the sheet more than anyone I have seen. This looks to me like he is near the lower limit of foiling wind speed for a standard rig. It would be very interesting to see if he can foil up wind in some higher wind speed -or if the open hull just has too much air drag. And it would obviously be interesting to put a modern advanced sail rig on to see how fun they could make it.
