| the Flying Dutchman and the Sailing Aerofoil I believe that in order to advance the WWSSR significantly beyond the current record (set by YPE in 1993), a blending of sailcraft technologies with ram-foil (WIGe) technologies must occur. Please don't jump into these waters blindfolded. In the past such an idea has been met with complete skepticism and authoritative claims of 'Absolutely Impossible'. Prior to making any response; please read, STUDY, and try to understand the complexities of this 'blending' of technologies at the webpage listed below. This is not a request for a 'Yes' / 'No' answer. A Dutch and a British designer have devised a sailing 'aircraft', however I feel the IMO and the ISAF would not classify the craft as 'Sail-BOAT'. The question becomes how to LIMIT the height of the operational parameters of the craft, so that it would be incapable of rising out of 'ground-effect' (and therefore enabling the concept to be classified as a 'BOAT' by the above authorities). If interested, please study the concept discussed on the following page (and follow all the links to get a full understanding of the 'Sailing Aerofoil' concept ... > http://foxxaero.homestead.com/indtri_flydtch.html Cheers Foxx |
