Fiberglass or Aluminum Flagpoles

    Anyone ever try an aluminum or fiberglass flagpole as a freestanding mast?
    It seems that a round tapered aluminum mast is about the same thing as a flagpole.

    I have seen just about everything from lamposts to tree trunks, it all comes down to the material properties and the section available as to whether it is suitable.

    4" tapered aluminum or fiberglass. 20 feet high, to cat rig a 17' micro cruiser type boat.

    .125" wall thickness for the aluminum
