Daggerboard Position:Interesting Moth

Anybody have any thoughts on the daggerboard position on this very interesting Greg Wise designed foiler Moth?

Just a thought

Interesting indeed -Maybe the stern is the only point that stays in contact with the water when the moth starts to "fly"

and you can see the daggerboard slot on the sketch - and in the build pics.


The idea being to increase the foiling base - ie between the lifting daggerboard T foil, and the rudder T foil.

Not sure how it will balance ( lots of weather helm perhaps ?)

some other boats have the mast moved well forwards, and so the daggerboard can move fwds too. ( but behind the mast )

But the good thing about moths is that you can try things that 'obviously won't work ' .... and sometimes it works fine! ( or at least suggests that next time it will work )

I wonder if Greg has seen the multihull work of Bill Roberts where the daggerboard is forward of the mast as well?
