    Good to see an international class getting back to its wooden roots.

    Pity that so many major classes are one design. Experimentation in these classes must be stymied and the return on the molds maximised. In what other sport would a dominant class like the Laser date from 1969, but then there is still the B52 bomber...

    Sports like sailing are suffering a marked loss of young people in the later years of high school. A return to the wooden classes would enable sailing to present far more rounded and broadly competent young people to the adult world.

    Case in point, a builder joined our club and on learning that a particular youth was building a boat said "If the boy finishes the job himself, I'll give him an apprenticeship." Why, what better evidence can a youngster offer of "stickability?"

    I agree with you 100%. It takes persistence to build a boat. The effort that goes in comes back in so many ways.
