A 3.5 HP British Seagull for propulsion.
Styrofoam rudders float when broken and can be recovered by trained swiming monkeys.

Just because your monkeys can't swim is no reason to talk like that.

Ruminame
Try to look at trimaran war boats

3 electric PMBL thrusters + few generators

I think you even could avoid the rudders, so have a safer, simpler boat.

Are you sure the maximum speed is 15 knots?
Leo.

P.S. Stop using up all the question marks! It looks like an idiot jumped on your keyboard.

Zeroname: This is my advise to students: Don't bite more than you can chew. Start by designing a small boat before you go to superyachts. That involves a degree of complexity that only a handful of designers in the world are capable of.

To student ?

May be the trimaran case was imposed by a teacher ?

May be the teacher knows what he is doing ?
Or as you say Gonzo, may be not.

If they are given a superyacht to design by themselves, they should think about finding a new school. There are several threads from student asking questions like that. The problem is that they don't have the knowledge level to understand the answers.

Well I apologise for my remark if he is in fact a student, Im normally the first one to try and help if my knowledge allows, but after reading the post I got the feeling that someone has offered him a load of dosh to design or even(gulp) build a boat. and hes asking for dimensions for the rudder, clearly if that is the case he doent have the necessary skills to attempt it , yet!
Maybe he'll come back and clarify why etc and someone can try to help him.
regards
Itchy
